If a student receives a D in a course that requires a C or better as a prerequisite to advance to the next level, the student is not allowed to move up to the higher level class. Sometimes, it is suggested that a student repeat a level of a Math or Foreign Language class to develop stronger skills prior to moving up to a higher level class in that subject area. Communication with the teacher and counselor are important to discuss these possible situations if your student is struggling in a class.
If a student is planning to enter a four year university and has received a "D" in a college entrance requirement (A-G requirements), the student will need to see their Counselor about repeating the class to receive a "C" or better in order to meet the minimum admission requirements.
