PSAT Information for college-bound sophomores and juniors:
Sophomores and Juniors - if you are planning to go to a university, do not miss this test only administered once a year.
WHEN is the PSAT? Saturday, October 19, 2013 from 8a.m. to 11a.m.
WHERE is the PSAT held? At Pleasant Valley High School
WHO should take the PSAT? Sophomores and juniors preparing for university entrance.
HOW MUCH does the PSAT cost? $20 (Checks or money orders should be made payable to CUSD. No cash will be accepted). Fee waivers are available for qualifying juniors only-please see Mrs. Isern in the counseling office if you believe you are eligible.
WHAT is the PAYMENT PERIOD for the PSAT? We will be accepting payments beginning September 23rd - October 14th. You can place your payment in the drop box located in the counseling office. Office hours are 7:30a.m. - 3:30p.m.
HOW do you sign up for the PSAT?
- The PSAT receipt is a 2 part form. Print out the payment form and cut off the top section which is the student receipt-keep this copy for your records. The PSAT receipt must accompany your payment. PSAT form
- Attach the bottom part of the receipt with your payment and bring it to the drop box in the counseling office. Your check will be processed and your name will be added to the list of students taking the PSAT.
- Make sure to pick up the Official PSAT/NMSQT Student Guide, which is located next to the payment box.
- Arrive at 7:45a.m. the morning of the PSAT.

The PSAT/NMSQT is useful for providing practice for the SAT, allowing Juniors to enter the National Merit Scholarship Corporation competitions for recognition and scholarships, assessing your skills in critical reading, mathematical reasoning and writing, getting specific suggestions on how to improve your skills, comparing your academic skills with those of other college-bound students, asking colleges to send you information, and getting information about college majors and careers.
