70% Individual Tests and Semester Final
Tests and quizzes will be given to you occasionally as a group assessment, although most are administered on an individual basis. Quizzes may or may not be announced and some will not allow the use of a calculator. Scientific calculators will be sufficient on many of the individual unit tests, although graphing calculators will be required for certain standards. Retakes/corrections are allowed on 1 individual test per semester provided that you have 80% of your homework assignments and all reviews completed for that unit. Retake/corrections will give you an opportunity to receive 1/3 of any missed points back and are administerd during lunch or by appointment only.
10% Individual and Group Quizzes
Individual quizzes on previous material will be given about once a week. Group quizzes will be given at the end of most units.
20% Daily Assignments (Classwork, HW, Participation)
Classwork/homework will be assigned on a daily basis and is usually due at the beginning of the period the next day. Homework is worth 10 points and students are expected to begin in class if time permits. All assignments should be done in pencil. Toolkits will be given for each unit and should be kept for future reference. They may be used to assist you during group quizzes and on the semester final but not during individual tests. A portion of this 20% of your grade will be left to my discretion based on your willingness to participate and overall citizenship. A positive attitude will not be overlooked! You are in charge of your attitude and effort in class and it can raise or lower your grade. While collaboration during group assignments is encouraged, cheating during individual assessments will not be tolerated!
