Jon Macalutas "Mr. Mac"

I am entering my 10th year teaching Math and 7th year at Pleasant Valley High School. I graduated from Cal Poly SLO with a degree in Industrial Engineering where I played 4 years of baseball on scholarship before going on to play professional baseball for 8 years. I spent time in the minor leagues with the Milwaukee Brewers and Florida Marlins organizations before ending up in Chico playing for the Chico Heat and managing the Chico Outlaws Professional Baseball Club. More recently I went back to school to become a full time teacher and obtained a Master of Education with a Specialization in Teaching Mathematics at National University.

In 2003 I opened Mac's Professional Baseball School where I worked with kids of all ages and skill levels teaching baseball and softball fundamentals. In addition to running the public batting cages and pro shop there, I spent 3 years as an owner of Sandlot Stiks, a local wood baseball bat manufacturer. Along the way, I worked as a substitute teacher in the off-season before getting my teaching credential and masters in Education with an emphasis in Mathematics. Before starting at PV in 2019, I taught math and science at Maxwell Junior High school for 3 years.

This year I will be teaching Integrated Math 2 and Integrated Math 1 while also serving as the head varsity baseball coach here at Pleasant Valley High School.

Please don't hesitate to reach out for help or just to say "hi". I'm looking forward to having an outstanding year!
