Chico Unified School District is taking a proactive step to help enhance safety and security at its most highly attended high school events with the introduction of a new Clear Bag Policy, effective January 1, 2026. This measure aligns Chico Unified with professional practices utilized by event venues nationwide, ensuring a safer and more enjoyable experience for all students, staff and community members.

- The new policy will be phased in during the Spring of 2026 and fully implemented at the effective January 1, 2026. Some highly attended indoor high school winter and spring sports may have the Clear Bag Policy in effect. Large CUSD events at the Center for Arts (CFA) or school stadiums (such as graduation) may also have the policy in effect.
- Approved bags include clear plastic, vinyl, or PVC bags, or a clear, resealable plastic storage bag.
- Attendees are also permitted to carry one small clutch bag (no larger than 4.5" x 8.5").
- Medically necessary items are permitted but are subject to additional screening. Diaper bags are also permitted, but they are subject to search.
